Dilectics

What is a Dilectic?

dilectic (This is a coinage)
Specifically: Discussion between a pair with the aim to arrive at the truth by the exchange of arguments.
or Generally: Discussion between a pair, regardless of the topic or purpose.

Consider the following definitions from the Maquarie Dictionary 2001 ...

dialectic
1. of, relating to, or of the nature of logical argumentation.
3. proceeding by or as if by debate between conflicting points of view.

A "dilectic", then, while related to "dialectic", emphasizes the pairing. "Trilectic" would involve three, etc.

Philorum Dilectics

1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month.

14:30 till 17:30

Generally held on the verandah at Government House, the Botanic Gardens.

To attend you will need to come to a prior Philorum Group meeting. You can put your name down then. Alternatively you can contact the Philorum Programmer. In any case you need to have your name down by or on the Wednesday preceeding. That allows a few days for people to book pairings via email.

You choose who you wish to pair up with. You are free to decline or ignore any invitations without justification.
